This version of
aprsd from WA4DSY and different other authors was modified by Hans-J. Barthen, DL5DI
Nevertheless I can not support my aprsd modifications any longer.
After the optional use of stdport.lib was deleted from
aprsd and it was told to be stable now without this option, I closed that
story and changed to javAPRSsrv from Pete Loveall, AE5PL.
For me aprsd was still not stable with GNU standard libs, even with latest versions.
It may be stable compared to some servers on Microsoft plattforms, for me "stable"
means a runtime of a year or more under high traffic, not only a week or a month at
servers with low traffic or no other load.
JavAPRSsrv is not only 100% stable and more powerfull, the main advantage
is that the filters are set for the downlink at the uplink server.
The aprsd version with filters receives all traffic from the uplink
server and then throws away what it does not want, where javAPRSsrv
tells the uplink server not to send what it does not want.
This reduces the uplink traffic dramatically.
The
directory contains different versions of aprsd and also some tools
to create emails and mails in the packet-radio-bbs-network.
